Tell DEQ to improve their cleanup plans for the Willamette Cove Site!

Oregon's Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) should be planning for a more robust cleanup process for the Willamette Cove Site that leaves native trees, removes as much contaminated soil as possible, and allows the site to be used for multiple community priorities.

As it is, their plan is vastly inadequate to community needs: leaving contamination in place, underestimating the long-term costs of maintenance, then using those underestimated costs to pretend that the less-protective option is the most cost-effective.

Talking points are available here and you can write to the DEQ directly by emailing WillCoveUpland@deq.state.or.us.
